The magic of Greenwich

10 years ago I've met the "old lady" London. An addictive love and hate relationship started between us a decade ago and we are still running wild. Greenwich was the first historic place I have visited in London and it was love at first sight. It is one of my favourite locations here and I know it by heart.I feel so at home on its streets, getting lost between the old buildings full of mysteries and untold secrets. There's nothing like a sunny Spring day strolling the popular Rose Garden located on the eastern side Of the Greenwich Park. Admire the Georgian architecture of the Ranger's House while heading the Royal Observatory and the Prime Meridian line. I don't know about you but I can't help myself taking pictures, each time, with the breath-taking view of Greenwich Village, National Maritime Museum, Old Royal Naval College in such a strong contrast with the City of London skyline, standing tall on the other side of the Thames.
When in Greenwich, take your time to enjoy the amazing history, art and culinary variety. From the Prime Meridian of the World stroll down towards my favourite pair of twin buildings in London-The Painted Hall at Old Royal Naval College & The Chapel of St Peter and St Paul's. Both are an absolute proof that art can't be described in plain words. If you're into neo-classical masterpieces, that's the right place for you to spend a good couple of hours. Moreover, April brings the chance to attend the 60 minutes Painted Hall Tours. Painted between 1707 and 1726, the Painted Hall is now part of a major conservation project so this is a once in a life-time chance to have a closeup look.
Pass all the amazing coffee-shops and famous restaurants and make sure you start your culinary journey from the Greenwich Market. You'll find every famous cuisine in the world there. Don't jump at the first food-stall , take your time and tour them all first. We usually vote for 2 or 3 different cuisines so we can enjoy various flavours. This time we ended up buying the Cypriot halloumi-lamb wrap and the German sausages for a full experience. Make sure you try some vegan deserts before you end up drinking a cold beer. We usually enjoy ours sitting out on the grass, up on the Park's hills in an outdoor fashionable laid back manner. Just let your hair down and admire the view. Smart-comfy shoes strongly recommended.
Before you leave the market have a peak at the local arts and crafts and remember trying the eco-friendly skin care products. This time I have treated myself with some fabulous shea- butter soaps and creams for my beauty routine.
Whatever you opt for in Greenwich, don't rush. It's a complex experience and you will thank me later for this tip. Remember that the old Cutty Sark clipper ship (1869) is hosting from time to time legendary silent disco nights-if you're lucky enough to be around when it happens.
Love and Sparkle!
